Newly installed kitchen faucet after a fixture repair

Overview

Not every plumbing call is a crisis. A lot of what we do is the ordinary work of keeping a house functioning — a toilet that runs all night, a faucet that has dripped for a year, a shutoff valve seized solid at exactly the moment you need it.

These are worth handling promptly for a practical reason: a running toilet can waste more water in a month than most people expect to see on a bill, and a shutoff valve that will not turn converts a minor leak into an emergency.

Symptoms

Common fixture problems

Toilet runs continuously

Usually a worn flapper or a misadjusted fill valve. Inexpensive to fix and one of the largest sources of invisible water waste in a home.

Faucet drips or leaks at the base

Worn cartridge, seat, or O-rings. Dripping is a cartridge issue; water appearing around the base is usually a failing seal beneath the handle.

Weak flow at one fixture

Typically a clogged aerator or a partially closed angle stop, not a house-wide pressure problem. Quick to diagnose.

Shutoff valve will not turn

Old multi-turn angle stops seize with mineral deposits. Worth replacing proactively — you find out they are stuck at the worst possible moment.

Toilet rocks or smells

A failed wax ring or loose closet bolts. Left alone, water gets under the flooring and the subfloor becomes part of the job.

Our process

How we handle small jobs

  1. Quote before we touch it

You get a flat price before work starts, including parts. No hourly clock.

  2. Repair where repair makes sense

A quality faucet with a worn cartridge should be rebuilt, not replaced. We will tell you when a fixture is genuinely past the point of being worth repairing — and when it is not.

  3. Check the valve while we are there

We test the shutoff serving whatever we are working on. A seized angle stop is worth catching now rather than during a leak.

  4. Clean up properly

Floor protection goes down, old parts leave with us, and the work area is left as we found it.

Fixture repairs questions

Answers before you book.

More questions on our full FAQ page.

Is it worth repairing a faucet or should I just replace it?

If it is a decent-quality fixture and the finish is still good, a cartridge rebuild is usually the better spend and takes less time. Budget fixtures with worn finishes and multiple failures are generally better replaced. We will give you our honest read on which yours is.

How much water does a running toilet actually waste?

Considerably more than people assume — a continuously running toilet can waste hundreds of gallons a day. It is often the explanation for a water bill that jumped without any other change.

Can you install a fixture I bought myself?

Yes, that is common and we are happy to. One caution: we cannot warranty the fixture itself, only our installation. If a homeowner-supplied unit arrives defective, the replacement comes from your supplier.

Do you take small jobs, or is there a minimum?

We take them. There is a standard service call charge that covers the visit, and the work is quoted on top of it — which is why grouping several small items into one visit is worth doing.

A plumbing problem should
not become a renovation.

If it is safe, close the nearest shutoff valve, move belongings away from water, and tell us exactly what you see.
